The AgustaWestland AW139 (PWC PT6) Type Training Course offered by IKAROS Aviation Center provides comprehensive theoretical and practical instruction for licensed aircraft maintenance engineers seeking to obtain their EASA Part-66/147 Type Rating (B1/B2 LIII).
The AW139 is one of the most advanced and versatile twin-engine helicopters in operation today. Our course equips participants with the in-depth technical knowledge and hands-on skills needed to maintain, troubleshoot, and certify this aircraft to EASA standards.
The program combines flexible online learning (SDL) with on-site practical sessions and examinations in Cyprus, making it ideal for both local and international engineers.
13 January 2026
The duration covers both Theory and Practical Elements, including all Phase Exams and Practical Assessments.
A detailed schedule will be provided to each participant upon registration.
Theory: Delivered via Synchronous Distance Learning (SDL) — live, instructor-led sessions that you can attend from anywhere in the world.
Practical & Exams: Conducted on-site in Cyprus, under the supervision of certified IKAROS instructors and assessors.
This structure ensures maximum flexibility while maintaining full compliance with EASA Part-66/147 requirements.
The course includes in-depth training on the following key areas:
Aircraft Systems & Maintenance Procedures – airframe, structures, hydraulic, fuel, and electrical systems.
Powerplant & Avionics Troubleshooting – with focus on Pratt & Whitney PT6C-67C engines, engine controls, and associated systems.
AW139 Architecture & Operation – flight controls, autopilot, avionics integration, and helicopter performance.
Practical Exercises & Assessments – system fault diagnosis, component removal/installation, maintenance documentation, and safety procedures.
Participants will gain both theoretical understanding and real-world technical confidence — ensuring readiness to perform maintenance and certification duties upon course completion.
All training is delivered by EASA-certified instructors with extensive experience in helicopter maintenance and operations.
The practical sessions take place at IKAROS’ Part-147 approved training facilities in Cyprus, fully equipped for rotary-wing maintenance training.
The learning environment replicates actual maintenance operations, allowing trainees to experience the same systems and tools used in service.
Phase Exams: Conducted throughout the theoretical element.
Practical Assessments: Completed on-site in Cyprus at the end of the practical phase.
Certification: Upon successful completion of both elements and all examinations, participants receive an EASA Part-147 Type Training Certificate for the AW139 (PWC PT6).
This certificate enables the addition of the AW139 Type Rating to the engineer’s EASA Part-66 License (B1/B2 LIII).
IKAROS offers flexible payment options and discounts for early prepayment.
All fees include instructor costs, training materials (in electronic format), phase exams, practical assessments, logbooks, and certificate issuance.
