UTT & IKAROS have joint the skies!

UTT & IKAROS have joint the skies so that UTT Batchelor of Science in Aircraft Maintenance & Management graduates, simultaneously qualify for their EASA Part 66 CAT B1.1/B2 licenses via IKAROS.

The University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Cyprus-based IKAROS on Friday 6th March, 2026.

IKAROS is an Aircraft Maintenance Training and Examination Centre which gained its approval by the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) via the Cyprus Department of Civil Aviation in 2013.

Senator the Honourable Professor Emeritus Prakash Persad endorses this strategic initiative as UTT staff and students will benefit from approved European standard technical aircraft education which also meets the standard of the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering training of EASA.

The use of the faculty and physical resources of UTT’s hangar inclusive of aircraft and equipment will facilitate further educational collaboration, student exchanges and the development of both faculty and facility. This will be mutually beneficial to both UTT and IKAROS.

The MTEST is committed to the continued development of the aviation industry in Trinidad and Tobago through its support of UTT. UTT – The University of Trinidad and Tobago
